This week’s French product recommendation goes out to Sparrow, a fabulous mail client for Mac developed in France.
If Dave Morin likes it, I do too.
To be fair, Sparrow has been around for a while. In fact, Techcrunch covered the product when it received funding from Kima Ventures, Path CEO Dave Morin and Tweetie founder Loren Brichter. In all honesty, I was shown this product prior to the Kima funding but I kind of glossed over it since I didn’t have a Mac at the time. Shame on me.
When Gmail drives you nuts…
So Sparrow happily popped back into my life yesterday when I was being kicked out of Gmail every 2 seconds. It was so bad that it was eating into my productivity – and I discovered that tons of people have trouble with this. People on Twitter started recommending Sparrow to me – that mail client that I had kind of ignored when I was in my pre-Mac days. And low and behold, it is just an absolutely fabulous “Made in France” product.
Seamless and social.
If you are anything like me, you probably have Gmail accounts by the dozen. Well Sparrow is not only fabulous for people with multiple accounts – it’s also incredibly seamless and gives your email a personal touch by importing their Facebook profile photos. But it’s not overly social either (which is a big concern of mine whenever there is FB integration). In addition, all the functions are incredibly evident – I honestly don’t think I’ve been this happy with my email in ages. I could literally sit there and smile at my inbox all day. So if you’re looking for an example of a terrific product from France, well, here it is.
